Abdul Qayyum Jamal back to his home with family

I want to give my deepest heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all of the people who have carried us through this horrible ordeal.

Everyone who made duah to Allah (prayed to God) for us, everyone who sent us money and food to help us make it through each month, everyone who spoke out about the case in the masjids and the universities, on the internet and in the coffee shops, may Allah bless you for your support and your trust. I want to thank all of the masjids and halaqas who raised money for his bail, all of the sisters and brothers who stood up and gave us what they could without hesitation.  It really counted in the courtroom.

I wish I could tell you how much and why, but this is still under a publication ban. To all of my friends who held me up through this, who gave me advice, who let me rant, who corrected my bad behaviour and my bad language (yes, I'm talking about you and your mother *wink*).

Special Thanks for Anser Farooq

And I want to thank Abdul Qayyum's lawyer, Anser Farooq.  He worked so hard on this case, he spent more than 70 or 80 hours in the prison with my husband preparing his defense.  I've heard from others he spent more than one night sleeping in his office.  He sacrificed more than hours, days and months, it took precious time from his own family.  You'd think Abdul Qayyum was his real brother, not just his brother in Islam. He's done a tremendous job with this case that hasn't even begun trial yet. He managed to get 2 brothers out on bail, one of them, Abdul Qayyum, the only bail in both the adult and the youth cases to be granted under contest by the crown.
  • He fought for and won the Juma'ah prayer in the prison.
  • He successfully challenged the explosives charge and it has now been removed from his charges.
  • Insha'Allah, we will see the end of this case soon.  I pray the remaining charges will be dropped by the Crown with the same consideration they gave to the explosives charge.

May Allah accept my duahs for everyone, both the brothers and their families, and for those who supported us and those who weren't able to support us for so many different reasons, not just here in the GTA, but all over the world.  People sent money from Britain, from USA, from across Canada, people sent emails from across the world. I am truly touched that strangers would reach out and hold our hand.

Jazakum Allahu Khyran Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatoh Source: UmmTayyab.com - 6-nov-07
